Handguns

6P9

This Russian pistol first showed up in the groovy 1960s, designed by the not so groovy Spetsnaz. The ones on Rook Island come from a batch of surplus arms sold to local pirates by a general looking to fluff up his retirement fund.

.44 Magnum

The large-bore magnum revolvers on Rook Island come from several sources, including online purchases and gun shows. Vaas has a thing for these "made famous by Hollywood" pistols. After all, they're difficult to control and extremely powerful - just like him.

D50

When it comes to large pistols, few handguns top this monstrosity. Its massive .50 caliber round is more than capable of bringing down large animals, humans and even vehicles. Nearly all D50s on Rook Island were brought here by privateers, arriving tucked into a shipment of pirated DVDs.

Sub Machine Guns

VZ61

This Czech design from 1961 was originally made for the military, but it's also been helping Eastern European gangsters practice the fine art of “spray and pray” at 850 rounds per minute at the same time.

BZ19

The BZ19 sub machinegun is what you get when you take bits of an AK-74, shorten it, and slap on a high capacity “helical” magazine.

MP5

The MP5 is one of the most famous submachineguns in the world, mainly because it's the only gun most action movie producers ever want to use.

Vector .45ACP

This sub machinegun stole the limelight in 2006. It sports a unique recoil system which makes it easy to control while laying on the trigger. In other words, it's environmentally friendly.

Rocket Propelled Grenades

RPG-7

It has been said that the RPG-7 is the most successful handheld anti-tank weapon in history. This Russian-designed weapon has been blowing things up since 1961. More than 9 million have been manufactured for the armies of over 40 countries - and enterprising freelancers like Vaas.

GL-94

Meet the GL-94. The idea behind this puppy is that three is better than one. When most grenade launchers require you to reload after each shot, this masterpiece of engineering lets you fire off three 43mm grenades without reloading.

Flamethrower

No one on Rook Island really knows how a batch of World War II-era flamethrowers from Russia arrived on their shores. They are highly effective in flushing out enemies in cover, detonating vehicles and taking out heavy artillery.

Shotguns

M133

The M133 is a Russian shotgun designed for civilian and law enforcement use. These devastating but relatively inexpensive weapons are a great 'area weapon' for jungle fighting, and were purchased in bulk by Vaas and his men.

SPAS-12

This Italian semi-automatic shotgun is one of the few weapons on Rook Island that was imported legitimately. SPAS-12s were used by private security forces hired by the mining corporations that set up shop in the 1980s. When the mining companies fell apart, it was cheaper to abandon these weapons than to ship them back overseas. The rest, as they say, is history.

1887

Just like the name indicates, this is an old design - but you've got to respect the classics. It's survived because it's effective - at taking lives.

Assault Rifles

AK-47

The workhorse of armies, militias, and terror groups all over the world, the AK47 was designed by the winner of a Soviet contest.

STG-90

This assault rifle is used by the Swiss Army and exported around the world. Forces in Brazil, India, and even Vatican City use variants of the STG-90.

F1

The F1 is a bullpup assault rifle, which means the gun is shorter in length, allowing for greater maneuverability.

MS16

The MS16 is an updated take on the Vietnam-Era American military rifle. Today, rifles like this are commonly used by Special Forces soldiers and SWAT teams with nothing better to blow their budgets on.

P416

The P416 assault rifle is an improved version of a renowned but flawed weapon. It’s not cheap. It’s deadly, reliable, and worth every penny.

ACE

The ACE is an Israeli assault rifle that is described by many as an improved AK47.

Sniper Rifles

R700

Americans have been using the M-700 bolt-action rifle since it first hit the scene in 1962. Since then it’s gone all global, seeing action in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

SVD

This battle-tested semi-automatic sniper rifle is basically a more accurate and powerful version of the AK47. SVDs are fine guns, but the ones found on Rook Island are cheap knock-offs, meaning they'll work fine but you may get lead poisoning in the process.

Z93

The M93 is a Yugoslavian bolt-action rifle chambered in .50BMG, a bullet large enough to explode a watermelon on a web video or kneecap a T-Rex..

Machine Guns

PKM

The PKM is a light machinegun from Russia. Chances are you’ve seen photos of these being held by grim-faced rebels, insurgents, and bodybuilders in glossy magazines. This big gun is powerful, reliable and easy to use. Westerners call it the "People Killing Machine."

MKG

This 5.56mm light machine gun is used primarily by US forces. After pulling out of Iraq, the US military sent all its unsalvageable MKGs to the scrapheap to be destroyed. Of course, a few scrapheap owners took these guns and sold them to arms dealers who then had them returned to working order.

U100

The lightweight U100 is a light machinegun from Singapore. An impressive piece of hardware, it spits out 5.56mm rounds at full-auto with controllable accuracy.

Explosives

Grenade

This one’s a multicultural potpourri. Nearly all the frag grenades on Rook Island are American-made surplus items sold to the British contingent in Argentina after the Falklands War. Stolen by Argentinean mercenaries, they were then sold to South American pirates who relocated to Rook Island. Here they became property of Vaas’ men when an arms deal went bad. Talk about 'international arms'!

Molotov

The poor man’s incendiary grenade, the Molotov cocktail is nasty, cheap, and effective. Fire in a bottle can be made with any flammable liquid, a glass bottle, and some cloth.

C4

The old reliable of plastic explosives, this shaped charge has been used for decades and always packs a powerful punch.

More Weapons

Machete

Part of a long tradition of bloody violence across the island, this is your signature weapon. Use it with pride (and a good backswing)!

Recurve Bow

Since their invention, bows have been used by just about every ancient civilization that ever kicked ass in combat. Today’s recurve bows are made of fiberglass or carbon instead of wood and are more durable and reliable as a result.

Flare Gun

This is a flare gun, sometimes called a "signal pistol." But using a flare gun to signal for help is the last thing you want to do. Flare guns on Rook Island are better used for more creative things, like setting vegetation on fire or shooting people at close range with burning strontium nitrate.
